Aggravated Robbery - January 2010

I returned home after taking my Mom home. It was about 10 PM. As I was driving up the drive-way I noticed the back door light was not on and it was dark. I thought the light bulb must have burned out since it was on when I left the house.

I parked my car in my garage. As I turned around after getting off my car, I saw a man dressed all in black and a ski mask, pointing a gun at me. He told me to get back into the car.

I got into my car. He got into the back seat behind me. He said, "We are going to take a drive." I asked him where he wanted me to take him. He said, "Drive to a bank, any bank. We are going to get some money."

As I was pulling out of the garage. I looked into the rear view mirror. Since the car inside light was still on, I could see his dark skin around his eyes. He is a black male, about 6 feet tall. I guess he was about 25 years old, weights about 180 pounds. I told him that I never use ATM machine and I won’t be able to get any money out of the bank. He hesitated, seemingly didn’t know what to do next. He asked, "you mean you cannot get any money?" I told him, "Honestly, I never use ATM machine and I can’t get any money from the bank. I can give you all the cash I have on me."

He asked me how much and I told him. He said, "Okay."

I took out my wallet and gave him all the cash. He took the cash. As he proceeded to get out of my car. He told me to close the door and wait 10 minutes before getting out of my car. I asked him, "What door?" He said, "the garage door."

He got out of the garage side door. I called "911" from my cell phone. It was 10:05 PM. The police from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office got to my house at 10:35 PM. He wrote the report and gave me my case number, HC10-8387, filed as Aggravated Robbery.

This robber is a black male, about 6 foot tall, weighs about 180 pounds. He was soft and well spoken. He did not grab me nor hit me. He did not use any curse words nor use any threatening words at me. I believe he climbed the fence behind my house and got onto Parkview. May be his car was parked there. I did not see any strange car in front of my house, nor on my drive-way when I was coming home.

I hope this incident will alert our neighborhood and prevent similar events to happen again.
